Richard T. Manopello Sr. died on Friday, July 1 in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Cecilia (Tucker) Manopello who died in 1987. He was born in Conshohocken on April 24, 1920 and was 85 years old. He was a resident of Conshohocken all of his life. He was the son of the late Ralph and Edith (Barbato) Manopello. Mr. Manopello was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Conshohocken. He was a hard worker and devoted to his family. He also loved dancing and cooking. He was a member of the Labor Lyceum Senior Center in Roxborough, Pa. He attended Conshohocken High School and was a graduate of Temple University in Electrical Training. Since 1949, he was the owner and operator of Richard's Electrical Corp. of Conshohocken, remaining active in the business until 1994. He was a member of the Philadelphia Electrical Association and past president of the Buck/Mont. Division, a member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Manopello was a veteran of the U.S. Army WWII Pvt. 1st Class who served in the South Pacific and was a recipient of the Purple Heart given by Mimi Eisenhower. He was also a member of the Conshohocken V.F.W. Post 1074 and a member of the Men of Malvern for over 50 years. He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Richard T. Manopello Jr. (Linda) of Plymouth Meeting; Terrence J. Manopello of Conshohocken, and Susan Swift of Lafayette Hill. He is also survived by a dear friend Kay Fineran; eight grandchildren, Aleah, Michelle, Nicholas Swift, Terrence Jr., Shawn, Kimberly, Brittany, Lindsay Manopello; three sisters, Philomena Manopello of Collegeville, Josephine Matino of East Norriton, Betty Vacerio of Conshohocken, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Nicholas, Ralph, Dominic Manopello and Julie Milito.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 9 a.m. for relatives and friends from Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Home, 516 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. in St. Matthew Church, 219 Fayette St., Conshohocken, PA. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken. Friends may call on Wednesday evening after 6:30 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial s may be made in Richard's name to the Children's Hospital Foundation, 34th St. & Civic Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19104. It would be appreciated by the family.
