Carla Loretta DiTrapano McGoldrick, 87, of Charleston, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. She was born on Oct. 20, 1929, in Eskdale, Cabin Creek. She was the daughter of the late Luigi and Amelia DiTrapano. Also, preceding her in death were her husband, William H. McGoldrick, brother, Virgil DiTrapano, and nephew, Lidano DiTrapano. She graduated from Charleston Catholic High School and St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Ind., where she received a BS in Music. She was a star athlete playing basketball and field hockey while at St. Mary's. She was a homemaker and volunteered her time at St. Anthony's doing various activities such as working at the Egg Factory, Fish Fry, cleaning the church, and Bingo. She also volunteered doing Meals on Wheels. Once her children were older, she was the school secretary at St. Anthony's School for seven years. Some of Carla's leisure activities that she enjoyed doing throughout her years were going to the beach, reading, going to the dog track, watching sports especially Notre Dame and WVU football and basketball on TV, going to Cass, WV, in the spring and fall, going to the symphony and movies with her sister and cooking for her family and friends. Surviving: sons, William of Glen Burnie, Md., and James, her caregiver of three years, of Charleston; daughters, Loretta Chattin and Mary Nichols of South Charleston; grandchildren, Sarah Boehm (Shawn) of Clarksville, Tenn., Amanda Thurm of South Charleston and William Chattin of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Tessa, Alex and Monica of Clarksville, Tenn.; sister and best friend, Evelyn DiTrapano of Charleston, brother, Rudolph DiTrapano (Martha) of Charleston; nieces, Luisa DiTrapano (Cy) of Charleston, Lia DiTrapano Fairless (L.J.) of South Charleston; nephews, Dante DiTrapano (Teri) of Charleston and Gian Carlo (Guiseppe) of Rome, Italy.
