After a brief illness, Barbara Earle passed away peacefully on October 21 in the company of her loving family and caregivers. We are grateful for her one hundred years of life and the many blessings she enjoyed, starting with a happy, sixty-eight year marriage to Colonel John H. Earle, USMC, and the gift of four children, six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

The Arts were an integral part of Barbara's life, and she was a beloved English and theater teacher at Punahou School for decades. Additionally, Barbara taught ancient and modern hula, both in Hawaii and Washington DC, acted in several Shakespearean dramas at the Kennedy Theater, and sang the Messiah in Central Union Church for 20 years. Barbara appreciated her many world travels and the two years spent taking acting classes in London and studying art and history in Madrid.

Barbara enjoyed an active mind to the end, following daily world news with interest, and continued to be an avid reader throughout her long life. To her former students, she expressed her hope that they would be lifelong learners themselves.

Services will be held in December, and friends will be notified when details are available. The family wishes to thank Barbara's caregivers from Arcadia Home Health Services for their years of dedicated, loving service.

Arrangements under the direction of Borthwick Mortuary, Honolulu, HI.
