Kathy was born on September 11, 1950, in Corpus Christi to James Robert Hadden and Velma Ora Caplas. As a young child, she moved to Richardson, TX. Kathy grew up having adventures with her siblings, building forts in the woods and participating in many other antics that she shared with her children and grandchildren. Kathy graduated from Richardson High School and later moved to Nacogdoches, TX, to attend Stephen F. Austin State University.
While attending SFA, she met and fell in love with Randy C. Price. They married in 1971. Kathy later graduated with a BS in English and gave birth to her first daughter, Jennifer Hadden Price DeKerlegand. A few years later she gave birth to her second daughter, Heather Hadden Price. As she and Randy raised their girls, they took many vacations that created lifelong memories the family will always treasure.
Kathy loved long bike rides, bird watching, cooking, and reading. In 1994, she moved to Dallas to pursue two different Masters degrees in psychology. In 1997, Kathy life’s was changed with the birth of her first granddaughter, Kendall Nicole DeKerlegand. Kendall named her grandmother Grapey, and it became a name she was called by her family and close friends. Although they weren’t sure their hearts could pour out any more love, they did with the arrival of granddaughters Grace Elizabeth in 2001 and Emma Kathryn DeKerlegand in 2002. Grapey’s girls were one of her greatest treasures.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Randy C. Price, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Dirk DeKerlegand, daughter Heather Price, and grandchildren Kendall, Grace, and Emma DeKerlegand. Her brother Jim Hadden and wife Marilyn Faught of Florida also survive her untimely passing. Preceding her in death were her parents Jim and Velma Hadden, father and mother-in-law, Travis Price and Carolyn Price Bright, sister Cynthia Thomas, and brothers William Hadden Sr. and William Hadden Jr. Kathy also leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Sophie and Elijah.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at Fairview Cemetery. Kathy will be buried next to her mother, who blessed Kathy by spending the last ten months of her life living in Nacogdoches.
