Patrick Daniel Callahan, 85 passed away on October 13, 2017 in Centennial Colorado. He was born in Brownington, Missouri to Florence and Thomas "Clyde" Callahan.

He attended Harris Bend, Finey and Columbia Hall Elementary and Deepwater High School where he graduated in May 26, 1951.

He immediately enlisted in U. S. Air Force on May 29, 1951 where he attended basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas and additional Tech training (clerical) at the University of Alabama. Upon graduation as a Clerk Typist he was reassigned to 7505th USAF Hospital Group, Burderop, England.

He met Margaret Barbara Saunders in 1952 and they were married on September 4, 1954, in Swindon, England.

Upon completion of duty tour he was reassigned to 340th Bombardment Wing, at Whiteman AFB, Missouri as a Reports and Analysis Supervisor for Chief of Aircraft Maintenance.

Patrick had the first of two children Robert Patrick
Callahan, son, born August 10, 1956 and Gary Wayne Callahan, son, born September 13, 1957.

December 1957 he was reassigned to Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Offutt AFB Neb as Administrative Specialist for Aircraft Equipment Research and Development. August 1958 compassionate reassignment due to his father in laws death to 3919th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, RAF Fairford, England as squadron administrative supervisor. August 1961 reassigned to Group Headquarters, Offutt AFB Neb, as Administrative Specialist/Supervisor for Recreation Services, subsequently reassigned to Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Director of Operations, Document Control Specialist. July 1967 reassigned to 388th Tactical Fighter Wing, RTAF Korat, Thailand, Directorate of Material as Administrative Supervisor. July 1968 reassigned to 801st Recon Technical Squadron, Mountain Home AFB as Squadron First Sergeant. July 1969 reassigned to 30th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, RAF Alconbury, England as Squadron First Sergeant.

His third child Laura Ann Callahan was born on October 6, 1970, in Lakenheath England.

Reassigned to 3415th Air Base Group, Lowry AFB, Colorado for retirement processing. Retirement effective June 1, 1972 – 21 years and 1 day. He was awarded the following honors the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.

December 1972 through May 1975 Attended Metro State College, Denver, Colorado graduating Magma Cum Laude with a degree in Elementary Education.

After college graduation, he taught elementary two years in the Denver Public Schools. Then he obtained full time employment with the Electron Corporation as a machine operator/set up technician, retiring after sixteen years in 1996 as an Industrial Engineer for the Machine Shop. Health issues forced his retirement.

Since retirement he spent much time in volunteering; in church, American Legion, Masons, Front Range Organic Gardners, Stamp Club, Mended Hearts and Civic association.

He loved his work with veterans, gardening, stamp collecting and spending time with his family.

Patrick is survived by his wife Margaret of 63 years, his daughter Laura Callahan his son Gary Callahan three sisters, one brother and various cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Edwin Callahan, his sister Anna Corwin, his sister Vera Schoor and his son Robert Callahan.

A memorial service is scheduled Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary with inurnment following at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery, the same day.
