Tommy Lee Rainey was born to the late Mr. Tom Rainey Jr. and Mrs. Patience Caudle Rainey on February 5, 1926 in Limestone County Alabama. On February 1, 2015 Tommy Lee left his temporary earthly home in Decatur, Alabama surrounded by family and friends to live in Perfect Peace with the Lord forever. Realizing that he needed to dedicate his life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tommy Lee accepted Christ and joined St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Alabama where he remained a faithful and dedicated member. He served tirelessly as a Deacon for many years and at his time of death held the longest tenureship of Elders at St. James Church. Tommy Lee possessed character traits that radiated care, wisdom, kindness and a strong sense of family. He had a very giving spirit, an unwavering faith in the Lord and the ability to help others to always see the positives in every situation. Tommy Lee retired from Bunge Corporation with over 25 years of service. After retiring he started a successful janitorial and lawn care business, Rainey s Cleaning and Lawn Care. Rather it was sitting on his back porch, quail hunting or making sure he had the best looking yard in the neighborhood, Tommy Lee loved being outdoors. Tommy Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Rainey; three brothers, Harry, Raleigh and Darnell Rainey; and two sisters, Carrie Rainey and Christine Bradley. His memories will forever be cherished in the hearts and minds of those who loved him so dearly. To hold fast his memories are his five adoring children, LaMario Joiner of Atlanta, Georgia, Bobbie (JD) Witchard of Huntsville, Alabama, Patsy (Alex) Wheeler of Dallas, Texas, Deforest (Jeana) Rainey of Decatur, Alabama and Kimberly (Jante ) Glenn of Smyrna, Georgia; six grandchildren, Anita (Ricky) Jones, Rodney Joiner, James Jeffries Wheeler, Tyler Rainey, Cameron Glenn and Tobias Rainey; two sisters, Idella Rainey of Chicago, Illinois and Matilda Rainey of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Mable Harris and Delilah Fletcher, both of Decatur, Alabama; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Saint James Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (920 Moulton Street West, Decatur, Alabama 35601) with Pastor Michael Jones officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Memorial Gardens. Elder Rainey will lie in repose two hours prior to funeral time.
