Brenda Elizabeth Bowen, age 64, left her earthly home on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton in pursuit of her heavenly home with her Lord.

Born in Sampson County, NC on December 9, 1952, she is the daughter of Laura Jane Giddeons Johnson and the late John Washington Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Bowen of Harrells, her son, John Bowen of Harrells and his friend Caroline, her mother, Laura Jane Johnson of Wallace, her brother, Chuck Johnson and his wife Cindy of Harrells, her grandchildren Lauren Bowen and Addie Bowen of Clarkton, her uncle “Possum” Giddeons and his wife Annette of Wallace, her uncle Tom Johnson and his wife Mary Glenn of Wallace, and her aunt Ann Moody and her husband Jim of Harrells.

Funeral services will be held at Wells Chapel Baptist Church in Harrells, NC on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will precede the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. Interment will follow in the Wells Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Taylor Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Hunter Capps, Lloyd Herring, Edward Thutt and Jamie Pope.

Mrs. Bowen was a faithful member of Wells Chapel Baptist Church where she attended religious services for many years and assisted in most functions of the church especially in serving food. In her quiet way, she touched many lives in her church and Harrells community and in the Wallace community where she worked with her mother for many years at Johnson Furniture Company. In her early years, she worked in the Sampson County Register of Deeds office and for attorney Harry Lee in Clinton, NC. She felt an intense bond with her grandchildren, Lauren and Addie, who she loved with no end. Until just recently, she took extreme pride in working in her lawn in the Harrells community. When this was finished, she wanted to be at the beach. Many people will truly miss Mrs. Bowen in many ways including her wonderful personality, her quiet smile, and her helpful nature.
