At six months of age she moved with her family to Green Bay, Wisconsin home of the famed Green Bay Packers. As the years went by, the home two doors down the street was purchased by the Lombardi family and before too long Cindy and Linda, identical twins, found themselves among a group of local kids playing touch football with famed Green Bay Packer coach, Vince Lombardi. As Cindy would put it, “GO PACK GO!!”.
Cindy was a graduate of Lawrence College, Appleton, WI where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was employed as a teacher and later served in leadership positions in real estate, including over 20 years as an Associate Broker and Office Manager in several Central Pennsylvania offices. Cindy was also a member of PEO and the Delta Gamma Fraternity.
Cindy, a descendant of Anne Hutchinson a founder of what is now the Congregational Church, was for many years member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Mechanicsburg. In addition, for over 25 years she was a member of Cosmopolitan International, “The Club that Fights Diabetes.” Her local club was the Cosmopolitan Club of the Capital Region where she served as Club President and Regional Governor at the same time!
In 1979 Cindy, along with her husband Tom, established a “paper business” dealing with Paper Ephemera. That business has had continued success on eBay selling paper collectibles, stock certificates and interesting old letters.
Cindy’s greatest achievement, however, involved the impressive way that she raised their two children Sarah and Tom and skillfully managed the household during Tom’s 27 years of military service and beyond. She often said that the move to Mechanicsburg put the family into its 17th home since she and Tom had married.
Later in life Cindy and Tom spent time in both Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. You could really say that the Wisconsin home was their 18th since marriage.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Thomas R. Stone, two children: Sarah B. Carpenter of Mt. Sinai, NY; Thomas H. Stone and wife America of Auburn, PA. Cindy loved her five grandchildren: Jessica Carpenter, Maria Campanur, Arlin Campanur, Cynthia Stone and Tommy Stone. She is also survived by her identical twin sister, Linda H. Denis of Toano, VA.
Cindy truly left the world a better place. Her memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 4 at St. Paul’s UCC, 626 Williams Grove Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA, with visitation held from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Additional memorial services will be held in Wisconsin. Interment will take place in Reedsburg Wisconsin at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s UCC, 626 Williams Grove Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
