A laborer, Charles Young, was buried by a landslide in a sewer trench at the corner of 9th & Fredrick. He and 2 others were putting in a sewer for a new building at the corner of Francis and Fredrick. The 7ft trench wall, caved in, the loose dirt covering all but his head. He was rescued and taken to his home on Francis Street.

He died at home, Thursday, April 30, of the internal injuries he suffered. The funeral services were held Monday, May 4 at the Cathedral, burial followed.

Husband of Mary Tobin O'Brien Young. Step-father of Patrick O'Brien, father of Daniel, John, Joseph, Anna Marie Young Osborn, and Marian Young.
