Cy was a graduate of High Bridge High School. He was a US Navy veteran, serving from May 1, 1945 to May 15, 1946. Cy served aboard the USS Roosevelt. He was the recipient of the Victory Medal and the American Theater Medal. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Local No. 825 Operating Engineers in Springfield, NJ. Memberships include the Clinton Elks and Cokesbury Sportsman's Club. Cy was also a past member of the Annandale Hose Company, where he was an active member for 10 years. Cy was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp. He enjoyed camping with Spruce Run Beavers Camping Club. He also enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, riding his lawnmower and he especially loved tractors. He loved to go to sprint car races. He also loved motorcycles and go-karts. Years ago, he enjoyed going to his Florida home where he would spend the winter months. He would often be found at his Florida residence burning brush.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Apgar and his wife, Marti, of Durham, PA, and Steven Apgar and his wife, Sharon, of Washington, NJ; four grandchildren, Christopher Apgar, Scott Apgar, Corey Burks and Lisa Kerschner and her husband, Bob; six great-grandchildren, Alaina, Scott Jr., Austin, Nicholas, Grace and Mariana. He was predeceased by three brothers, Earl, who passed away at age 12, Elmer Apgar, who passed away in 1977, and Frank Apgar, who passed away in January 2017.
Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service following at 12 noon. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment is at Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury, NJ.
