Lester Gerald (Jerry) Gray, 90, formerly of Clever, MO, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 18, 2017 at Adante Senior Living in San Antonio, Texas. Jerry was born on December 19, 1926 to Lester Roscoe Gray and Hazel Irene (Payne) in Clever, MO.
Jerry was a graduate of Clever High and immediately joined the U.S. Navy before the end of World War II. He served two years and was a reserve for 6 years. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia with a degree in agriculture and retired from civil service with the USDA after 30 years. He served a short term as mayor while living in Clever and was an avid golfer, woodworker, cattle rancher, and traveler. He also had a successful 2nd career as a real estate developer before and after retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wayne Gray, and sister, Hildred Moore.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Jane (McMindes), two sons, Brad Gray and wife Writa, Retired U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant Shawn S. Gray, two daughters, Lisa Robertson, Trudy Blanton and husband Ron, two grandchildren, Crystal Latiker and Heath Blanton, and two great grandchildren, Tristan and Kailan Latiker.
