Marshall Johnson, 71 of Hurley died suddenly Monday, October 23, 2017 helping with the harvest. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, October 27, 2017 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7pm Thursday evening at the church with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.
Marshall Jerald Johnson was born on December 10, 1945 at Hurley to John and Grace (Ness) Johnson. He grew up at Hurley where he attended school. On June 19, 1964 he was united in marriage to Ruth Postma at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lennox. They lived in Lennox until moving to Hurley in 1971. He owned and operated Johnson Digging until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the Hurley City Council, had been an EMT, member of the Hurley Fire Department and Bethany Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Ruth; 4 children, Marsha (Jay) Morrison, Tea, Greg Johnson, Hurley, Tim (Jen) Johnson, Sioux Falls, and Niki Wildeboer, Parker; 10 grandchildren, Cody Morrison, Cody and Kailyn Bonte, Jarret, Ashlynn, Jazlene, and Addison Wildeboer, Austin, Hunter, and Halee Johnson; a brother Marvin (Doris) Johnson, Freeman; and a sister Mary Ellen Jacobson, Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marlene Bebout and a brother Marlin “Skeezix” Johnson.
