Martha Frances Bishop, age 90, of Madisonville, KY, passed away peacefully at NHC Madisonville on October 23, 2017. Frances was born in Madisonville on May 4, 1927, to Christian Dixon and Arthur Leroy Bishop. She attended Saint Vincent Academy in Morganfield, KY, where she was recognized for her artistic talents.

After graduation, she returned to Madisonville. Later she moved to Sturgis where she lived with her parents on the Bishop family farm for about twenty years before moving back to Madisonville. She was a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews as well as a caregiver for her parents. For many years, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville and the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. Frances was a faithful friend to many in her community and enjoyed hosting get-togethers, especially her famous Derby parties. She was also an ardent UK sports fan.

Frances is predeceased by her parents as well as her older sister, Lealice Bishop Dehoney, and her three brothers-in-law: William Wayne Dehoney, John Howard Hudson, and William Francis Hagerty III. She is survived by her sisters, Edith Bishop Hudson of Nashville, TN, and Ruth Bishop Hagerty of Gallatin, TN. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews: Rebecca Dehoney Richardson (Tom), Katherine Dehoney Evitts (Tom), William Wayne Dehoney Jr., Christian Hudson Follansbee (Greg), Sarah Hudson Raymond (Gary), John Howard Hudson,Jr. (Deb), Lee Bishop Hudson (Janet), Ambassador William Francis Hagerty IV (Chrissy), Michael Patrick Hagerty (Robin), and Elizabeth Ann Hagerty, in addition to many great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize and thank the wonderful staff at NHC for the loving care they provided to Frances.

A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice or First Baptist Church, 246
