GLEN ARLY ALLEN, 73 of Alvin, TX passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Alvin. Glen was born in Oneonta, Alabama to L.T. and Alma Jean (Towns) Allen. He was the youngest of four boys and one girl. He grew up in Corpus Christi and attended Carroll High School. He was a long-time resident of Liverpool and Alvin.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers and sister, L.T. (Sonny) Allen Jr., Norma Jean Terry and Bobby Lee Allen. Glen was also preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Allen.

Glen is survived by his brother Max Allen and wife Irene of Fresno, CA and step-daughter Cathy Beard and her husband John of Alvin, as well as nephews Dennis Terry, Steve Allen, Keith Allen, Kevin Allen, Terry Allen, Lanny Allen, Chris Garcia, Steve Garcia and nieces Nicola Geosano, Debbie Wills and Angie Strother, and many great-nieces and nephews. Glen was proud to be a lineman. He started out working on high powerline towers in the Houston area then worked at various chemical plants and at NASA. He retired from the Houston IBEW. He was also a proud veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the 1960’s and was aboard the ships that participated in the Cuban Blockade. Glen felt one of his greatest accomplishments was in being a Mason. He was well respected in the organization and relished his role in teaching new Mason’s.

Glen loved to have family and friends around when he lived on the Chocolate Bayou. Family members have many good memories of times spent singing and playing guitars and enjoying his smoked briskets at his A-frame on the Bayou. He loved having a good time and telling a good story. He donated a lot of his time to helping out his friends. He was generous to a fault to those who knew him. The Allen family will be eternally grateful to Cathy Beard for watching out for and caring for Glen over the past several years after Yvonne’s passing and especially after his automobile accident and subsequent surgeries. Cathy did her Mama proud. We also want to thank Arlene Davenport, Angel Barrow and Karen Prnka for being there for Glen and the Heart of Texas Hospice for their gentle caring and for making Glen’s last days easier.

Also a very special thank you to Heart of Texas Hospice for taking care of Glen.

Pall Bearers for the services will be Max Allen, Dennis Terry, Steve Allen, Zeke Brumfield and Andrew Alvarado.
