ARMSTRONG, BERTHA L. (CARL), "GAGA,"
Age 97, formerly of Shalom Drive, Warwick and Delwood Road, Warwick, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Oak Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center in Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late James J. Armstrong.
Born in Providence, the daughter of the late Henry W. and Martha J. (Kossack) Carl, she lived in Warwick since 1952.
Mrs. Armstrong was a member of St. Benedict Parish and St. Benedict Circle, Daughters of Isabella. She was a member of the Pontiac Peers, and enjoyed line dancing.
She is survived by two sons, James J. Armstrong and his wife Linda, of Mansfield, MA and Robert M. Armstrong and his wife Susan McCutchan, of North Attleboro, MA; five grandchildren, Ashley Nyman (Chris), Katherine Pirri (Thomas), Audra Armstrong, Beth Miga (Andrew), and Chris Armstrong (Dalila Veiga); and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late William H. Carl and Henry W. Carl. She was particularly close to her niece Joyce Cherry.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 27, at 11 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 10 - 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
