He was born March 21, 1939 in Lockport. He graduated from Lockport Township High School, Class of 1957 and Lewis University, Class of 1961.
Wayne proudly served his country as a veteran of United States Marine Corps., serving with the 2nd Force Recon Unit as a Field Radio Operator.
He volunteered at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with the Honor Guard and the Public Information Center.
Wayne retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Co. where he was a marketing manager. Following his retirement he founded EMC Innovations, Inc. specializing in baking products and mold forms.
He was an avid sailor all of his life and was a sailing instructor with the Marine Corps. He also enjoyed playing old time baseball.
Survived by his loving wife of 50 years Cam Barnett (nee Donahue), two daughters Dr. Christina Marie (Todd) Barnett-Waardenburg and Betsy Barnett. Four brothers Dale Barnett, John Barnett, Danny Barnett and David Barnett. His sister Lynne (Phillip) Rains. Also several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Ione Barnett and his in-laws John and Fran Donahue.
