Celebration of Life

As an infant Jane was adopted into the home of Pleasant Robert and LaRue Ford of Cedar Rapids Iowa. Born 9 Feb 1937 destined to be a teacher. She graduated from then Iowa State Teachers College to teach in Junior High in Gowry Iowa and High School in Cedar Rapids Iowa. She found her calling teaching kids in a Montessori School in the Twin Cities. Her children, grandchildren and kids school and library programs were most dear to her.

She married Frank on 27 Dec 1959 and they honeymooned in Winter Park when it snowed eight to ten inches every night and the sun shown every windless day (they thought that must always happen), the only shopping was found in Fraser and their way up from Denver was by Bus on old Hwy #6.

She was a consummate volunteer in the schools and libraries in Apple Valley MN, Arvada CO, Huntington Beach CA, Frasier CO and Granby CO kids programs including Library Volunteer of the Year honors for Grand County Libraries. She also did a long stint on the Grand County Historical Association Board. She was a Lion, golfer, avid reader, crossword and bridge player extraordinaire. You always wanted Grandma on your team when the board games came out at family get-togethers.

She died on 13 Jan 2015 and will be sorely missed by surviving family: Frank, daughter Jenna (Mark) Zeb & Cassie Pierson; son Robert (Lisa) Gabby & Jackson; son Bill (Annette) Avery & Abby; sister Janet (Edward) Lawrence. They are joined by the many other loving relatives and many friends in their knowledge that she was called to teach the Lord’s children.

A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held on Sunday, March 29th 4-6 pm at a YMCA/Snow Mountain Ranch Legacy reunion house.  Memorials if desired to the Grand County Historical Association, P O Box 165, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO, 80451.
