Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1955 to 1961), he played at the linebacker, defensive end and guard positions in the National Football League with the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles. Born Charles Frederick Weber, Jr., he attended Abington High School in Pennsylvania and played collegiate football at West Chester University. While with the Golden Rams, he achieved little All-American honors. Following service with the United States Marine Corps, Weber was signed as a non drafted player by the Browns and experienced a world championship during his rookie year (1955), as Cleveland captured the NFL Title. In 1960, he produced a career-high six interceptions with Philadelphia, as he contributed to the Eagles' clinching of the NFL Title. Weber's image was captured in the iconic photograph of Chuck Bednarik's thunderous hit to the Giants' Frank Gifford during the 1960 season. Weber is seen recovering the fumble. After retiring as a player, he went on to a lengthy coaching career with the Boston Patriots, San Diego Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Colts, St. Louis Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.
