Obituary published in The Buffalo News, Buffalo, NY, Wednesday, January 5, 1966, page 7.

George P. Tolsma

George P Tolsma, 87, of 130 Bathhurst Dr., Kenmore, one of the early builders of commercial and residential properties in Kenmore and the Town of Tonawanda, died today (Jan 5, 1966) in the Sheridan Nursing Home.

Mr Tolsma's real estate and building careers spanned a 40-year period between 1922 and 1963.

It reached one of its peaks during the depression when he built some of Kenmore's first stores along Delaware Ave., a project he undertook he said later to save the land.

In 1922, Mr Tolsma joined the Eberhardt Real Estate Co. as a salesman, but soon left to establish the Tolsma Real Estate Co. with his late brother, Barker.

Along with his real estate interests, Mr Tolsma was active in banking, first as a treasurer at the predecessor to the State Bank of Kenmore and more recently as vice president of the First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Kenmore.

Mr Tolsma is survived by his son, Robert, with whom he resided and two grandchildren. Dr. Henry W. Eddy minister of the Deerhurst Presbyterian Church, will conduct a funeral service at 11 AM Friday in the Forest Lawn Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
