Tommy Gene Black, 63, died at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was born April 11, 1954 in Vardaman, to Elvis and Dot Black. He had worked as a truck driver until ill health rendered him unable to continue.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Burgess Black; his children Marty Black, Tony Black & Nikki, Chance Black and Hope Black, all of Houston; his mother Dot Black, also of Houston; his sister Lisa Mahan & Charles of Vardaman; his brother Stephen Black & Heather of Charleston, SC; his grandchildren Danyelle Black, Peyton Black, Kristen Black, Gage Black, Drew Black, and Ella Grace Russell; and one great-grandchild Brooklynn Black.

He was preceded in death by his father Elvis Black and one brother Timothy Black.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Southern Funeral Chapel in Houston, with Brother Joe Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
