Marion Alice Riley, 96, passed away peacefully September 15, 2017 at Westminster Suncoast, St. Petersburg, Fl. She was born to the late Violet and Albert Neville in London, England, July 30, 1921.
She is survived by her brother, Albert Neville of Devon, England and sister, Cynthia Theed (Edwin) of Stanbridge, England. She is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lidford. Marion was the eldest of four children growing up in London, England. Marion met Harry during WWII in London at a USO dance. Marion was serving in the British Army as a decoder at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire, England and Harry was stationed in London while serving in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. After the war, she moved to the United States in 1946 to marry the love of her life, Harry. They were married and resided in Louisville, KY, until moving to St. Pete Beach in 1971. After relocating, Marion worked for Florida National Bank as Head Teller, Customer Service Representative, then Vice President of Operations until retirement in 1985.
Harry preceded Marion in death November 7, 1986 just before their 40th wedding anniversary. Marion is survived by her son, Bruce E. Riley of Reddington, CA; daughter, Barbara Riley Collins and son-in-law, Gene Collins of St. Petersburg; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Collins of Baltimore, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service at 11 am, Tuesday, November 21, at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. M. L. King St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33704. A private ceremony will take place afterwards where Marion will be interred next to Harry at the Bay Pines National Cemetery. A special thank you to the nursing staff and Westminster Palms and Westminster Suncoast for their kindness and care.
