John R. Hunt (1945 - 2017)

ANGELICA - John R. Hunt, 72, of 37 Brooklyn St., passed away peacefully Saturday (Oct. 14, 2017) at home.

Born in Cuba, Sept. 15, 1945, the son of Claire and Myrtle (Gould) Hunt, he was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Cuba Central School.

John was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran serving from 1968 to 1971.

He was retired from the Town of Caneadea Highway Department.

He was a life member of the AMVETS, the Cuba VFW Legion Post No. 808 in Belmont and formerly of the Belfast Post No. 1504.

He was also a life member of the Macedonia Masonic Lodge No. 258 in Bolivar.

He is survived by his son, Jon (Kathy) Hunt of Warsaw; his daughter, Tammie Hunt of Florida, two stepsons, Barry (Cathy) Case of Hamlin and Mike (Del) Case of Scio; two sisters, Pat (Bill) Rose of Cuba and Martha Bennett of Cuba; grandchildren, Jill Whitebeck, Julie Case, Kristen Case, Eric Case, Ashley Lindsey, Emma Hare, Katelyn Hunt, Greg Hare, Carlee Hunt and Connor Hare; his nephews, Rick, Dave and Stanley Hunt.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, Neva C. Hunt, on March 15, 2013, whom he'd married on April 18, 1978. He was also predeceased by his brother, Jim Hunt.

Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery with military honors.
