PFC, US ARMY

Raymond was the son of Lawrence James HOOKER (1910-2000) and Thelma Dorene "Dolly" HUTCHINSON (1916-1986). He was the brother of Elwood Wayne Hooker (1934-1937), Doris May Hooker (1939-1980) and Edward Keith Hooker (b. 1940).

In March 1941, Raymond and his family were living in Vancouver, British Columbia, at 532 Homer. In January 1942, his family was living in Vancouver, British Columbia, at 1528 E. Georgia. Raymond entered the USA on January 20, 1942, when he was almost six years old. He arrived with his parents and his younger sister and brother. The family was en route to East Los Angeles where Raymond's father had a paternal aunt, Dora (Mrs. Auburn Joseph MALONEY), living at 425 Oakford Drive. Raymond's paternal grandfather (James Burton Hooker) was living in Dome Creek on the Fraser River in central British Columbia. In January 1942, Raymond's father described his occupation as "metal worker" and said that the family was entering the USA to reside permanently. By March 1948, the family (dad, mom, and three children) were living at 340 S. LaVerne Ave., Los Angeles, California. By January 1951, the family was at 6165 Ferguson Dr., Los Angeles. Raymond's parents' marriage ended after that, and his mother married again on November 5, 1952, when Raymond was 16 years old. Before Raymond was 20, his father also had remarried.

A few days before Raymond's 20th birthday, on January 21, 1956, he married in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enlisted into the U.S. Army on December 2, 1958; a daughter was born in March 1960, and he completed his military enlistment in December 1960. He was not yet 24 years old. His marriage ended, and both he and his wife remarried. Before he remarried, Raymond fathered a daughter with Anna Marie URSICH; that daughter was born in January 1963 (DNA-proven). Raymond married a second time in June 1963; he and his 2nd wife had four children -- sons born in Nov. 1963, Nov. 1967, and Oct. 1970, and a daughter born in Sep. 1972.

In 1977, Raymond, his wife, and children were living in Modesto, California, at 812 Badgley Dr.; he was working for Campbell's Soup. He and his family were at the same address in 1979, 1980, and 1981, with him working at Circle A. W. Products. In 1983, he was in Modesto at 805 Ford Ct. By 1984, he was in Oakdale, California, at 5131 State Highway 108. Raymond and his 2nd wife divorced on February 3, 1984, in Stanislaus County, California; he was 48. The 1985 city directory for Modesto, California, lists him at 812 Badgley Drive, working as a clerk for Circle A. W. Products Co.; his by then ex-wife was listed at a separate address in that 1985 city directory. At the time of his death, Raymond had been working as a machinist for Circle A. W. Products. Raymond died in Sutter General Hospital, in Sacramento; a significant condition contributing to his death was aspiration pneumonia. An obituary was published for Raymond in the Modesto Bee (Modesto, California) on March 12, 2000.

Physical description: According to the Oath of Allegiance he signed on December 2, 1960, Raymond was 5 feet and 10 inches tall, weighed 170 pounds, had brown eyes, black hair, and a medium complexion.

Paternal grandparents: James Burton HOOKER and Adeline McMASTER.
