Major George Edward Cramer, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Major Cramer was born in Prichard, AL.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Humble Cramer, parents, Marvin E. Cramer, WWI veteran , and Mary Dewberry Cramer and his brother, Marvin Cramer.

He graduated from Murphy High School and worked for the CCC. When WWII began, he volunteered and served in the Army Air Corps. He flew 25 missions as a belly gunner in a B17. They were shot down landing in a mine field in Belgium on March 20, 1945. He married the love of his life, Ruby Humble Cramer on April 20, 1946. Major Cramer graduated from Spring Hill College, studied law at the University of Memphis, and completed many schools while serving the military, retiring as a Master Engineer from the Pentagon in 1966. He then began a whole new career with Vitro helping develop Naval Weapons Systems. Many of his distinguished military accomplishments include the following; serving as a JAG defense lawyer, installing the first computers in the Air Force Logistics Command, working with the Taiwanese military helping to set up defense systems, setting up the Dew Lines (Defense Early Warning Lines) across Canada to help protect the USA. He also enjoyed being the undefeated welter weight champion at his time, was a physical and ju jitsu instructor and taught officers how to “take down” others. He traveled extensively and world-wide with his beloved wife. He left this earth pleased with his life, his accomplishments and feeling very blessed.

He is survived by his three daughters, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside committal services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Loxley, AL.
