She was preceded in death by Arlo Emery Robbins, her devoted husband for over 60 years. (d. 2011) She is survived by her five children, Paul, Philip, Esther (Akins), Rebecca (Foutz) and James. She had eight grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Jean was a modern-day saint who dedicated her life to the Lord. During high school she began teaching Bible studies and Sunday schools and led her mother and brothers, Hoyt and Vernon, to salvation. In 1947, she received her B.A. in Christian Education and Missions from Biola University.
She married Arlo in 1949, and they had five children. While Arlo was pastoring, Jean gave piano lessons and taught Good News Clubs and 5-Day Clubs. In 1976, Jean and Arlo became Directors of Umpqua Child Evangelism Fellowship and moved to Roseburg, OR, a position they held until their retirement in 1995.
Jean was a lifelong learner and delighted in trying new things. She taught herself to play the violin as a child, and was also an accomplished organ, piano, and accordion player. She and Arlo loved gardening and flowers, especially roses and asters. She was soft-spoken, gentle-hearted, sweet-spirited, and smart as a whip. She was loved by many and had friends all over the world, and it was the deepest desire of her heart that everyone know Jesus.
Her memorial service will be held at Wellspring Bible Fellowship in Roseburg, OR, on Saturday, October 28th, 2017, at 2 oclock in the afternoon.
