Passed peacefully at Lakeside Homes, Gander on Monday, January 16, 2012 Roland Winfield Abbott(Envoy Rtd) age 98 years of Musgrave Harbour.
Predeceased by his wife Ina Hazel; son Murray Merrill; parents George D. and Dorcas P. Abbott; sisters Daisy, Elsie and Pearl; brothers Allan. Peter, Jasper, Walter, Maxwell, Charles and Stewart; daughter-in-law Janet.
Roland was a Member Past Master of ODD Fellows, Lodge Exploits #2, Grand Falls, Past Grand Master of Royal Black Grand Lodge, Member of Gander Masonic Lodge, 6860 Gander, Past Grand Sect of Grand Orange Lodge of NL and active in Gideon’s for years.
Resting at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Musgrave Harbour. Visitation Wednesday 7 - 9 pm; Thursday 10 - 12 noon; 2 - 5 pm and 7 - 9 pm.
Funeral service to take place at The Salvation Army Citadel, Musgrave Harbour on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2 pm. Interment to follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour.
Passed away at Lakeside Homes in Gander on Monday, January 16, 2012, Mr. Roland Winfield Abbott (Envoy Rtd) of Musgrave Harbour in his 98th year. He was predeceased by his wife Ina Hazel, son Murray Merrill, parents George D. and Dorcas P. Abbott, three sisters Daisy, Elsie, and Pearl, and 7 brothers Allan, Peter, Jasper, Walter, Maxwell, Charles, and Stewart and daughter-in-law Janet. Left with fond and loving memories to remember him are two sons Duke Charles (Sheila) of Bedford, N.S. and Roland Junior (Bonnie) of Port Anson, Notre Dame Bay, NL, four grandchildren Tommy, Mitchell, Melanie, and Murray, four great-grandchildren Kali, Chelsea, Catherine, and Brittany, one great-great-grandchild Brayden all of Halifax, N.S., sister-in-law Gladys Abbott of Gander as well as a large circle of relatives and friends far and near. Mr. Roland W. Abbott was a Member Past Master of ODD Fellows, Lodge Exploits #2, Grand Falls, Past Grand Master of Royal Black Grand Lodge, Member of the Gander Masonic Lodge, 6960 Gander, Past Grand Sect of Grand Orange Lodge of NL, and active in Gideons for years. Funeral service took place on Friday, January 20th from the Salvation Army Citadel in Musgrave Harbour with Majors Barry and Donna Anstey officiating.
