Samuel J. “Sam” Brooks, 25, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born in California and had lived in Long County most of his life. He was a graduate of Faith Baptist Christian Academy in Ludowici, attended Valdosta State, and graduated from Wyotech in Daytona, FL. He was a Plant Operator for Chemtall in Riceboro. Sam was a gifted musician playing numerous instruments, mostly strings, and was learning keyboard at the time of his passing. He was instrumental in the founding and forming of Anchor Pointe Church in Glennville. Sam was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his grandmother, Naida Brooks.

Survivors are his parents, Debbie Brooks of Ludowici and Mike and Sue Brooks of Flowery Branch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ashley and Daniel Dasher of Glennville, Sarah and Steven Blake of Spangdahlem, Germany, and Holly and James Hurtt of Travis AFB, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Benjamin and Aynya Brooks of Statesboro, Johnathan Brooks of Huntington Beach, CA, Timothy and Brittany Brooks of Reidsville, and Daniel Brooks of Ludowici; maternal grandparents, Ambry and Peggy Green of Warner Robins; paternal grandfather, Bill Brooks of Xenia, OH; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 22 from 5-8 PM at Gum Branch Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 23 at 11 AM at the church with Rev. Gabe Gill officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be brothers and brothers-in-law.

Honorary pallbearers will be his Chemtall co-workers and his Sunday school class members.

Remembrances are suggested to fendermusicfoundation.org to help place musical instruments in schools.
