Funeral service for Mr. Rex Mahaffey, 90, of Winnsboro, LA, will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Marion Collier and Rev. Scott Fletcher will officiate the service and burial will follow in Crowville Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Community Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Mahaffey was born on December 13, 1926, in Morton, MS to the union of James Luther Mahaffey and Helen Gould Wingate Mahaffey and passed away on October 16, 2017, in Winnsboro, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Helen Mahaffey; brothers, Billy Ray Mahaffey, Fred Mahaffey, and Jack Mahaffey; and sisters, Lyda Weems and Mary Lou Mahaffey.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline McCurley; son, John R. “Pick Handle” Mahaffey of Crowville, LA; sisters, Patsy Spence of Crowville, LA, Nell Whitney of Collinsville, MS, and Lynda Pepper of Delhi, LA; brother, Earl Mahaffey of Jackson, MS; the McCurley Family; and by his special grandsons, Ty McCurley and Trace McCurley.
Pallbearers will be Keith Maxwell, Trace McCurley, Larry McCurley, John Spence, Ty McCurley, and Larry Casiday.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Buster Chapman, Perry Parker, Bobby Davis, George O. Parker, Riley Rushing, Colby Davis, and George Thomas Parker.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
