Dillard Stickley, known as "Taz" and sometimes as "Les," passed away in St. Joseph, MO at 11:59 A.M. on Tuesday, October 17, following a lengthy illness. He was 61-years-old.

He was born in St. Joseph to Joy (née Branson) and Jack Stickley.

He married Alesia Noland in 1986, and the couple had four children.

He was an artist of great talent, and for many years he ran a tattoo shop in St. Joseph at various locations.

As his daughter, Annalise said: "His hands could draw, tattoo, paint, airbrush, wood work, and play any instrument invented. For he possessed such a raw talent within his hands."

In his early days, this talent shined through when he was a bass guitarist for many rock groups. He performed in several local venues and attracted the attention of the band Kansas.

He tried his hand at magic in the late 70s, and hosted Halloween fund-raising activities for UNICEF. As the Creative Director, he would plan their "haunted house," creating much of the haunted scenery himself, and performing magic shows to raise money.

But his artistic passion took him in a different direction in the 90s, and he followed his heart, opening his first tattoo shop in St. Joseph. He quickly became a renown tattoo artist. Thousands of people proudly wear his exquisite art.

He was also an excellent cook and could have been a chef.

He loved animals, including his cat "terrible" an orphaned kitten that he found and raised.

But he found his greatest joy in his seven grandchildren.

His grandparents, Dillard and Thelma Branson, née George; and aunt, Bonnie O’Connell, preceded him in death.

His survivors include children, Tristan Stickley (Megan), Natassja Hanttula (Tim), Annalise Stickley, and Nathan Stickley (Sam); grandchildren, Virgil, Valkyrie, Brennan, Gracie Vae, Legend, Killian and Zephyr; parents, Frank Jr. and Joy Crowley; brother, Grady Heberlee; sister, Bobette Bryan; uncle, Mickey Branson; aunt, Phyllis Blue; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was cremated, and his ashes were given to loved ones.

He was an extraordinary man and will be greatly missed.
