John was born in Middletown May 5, 1915 the son of the late Sebastian and Corradina (Santacroce) Adinolfo.
He retired after 30 years of service as a Supervisor from the US Postal Service in Middletown. John was the founder and original owner of Johnny Ad's restaurant in Old Saybrook, which continues to be family owned and operated since 1957. He was a past member of the Garibaldi's Society in Middletown.
His beloved wife, Theresa (Barbagallo) Adinolfo predeceased him as well as his brothers, Joseph and James and a sister, Connie Adinolfo.
He leaves behind his three children, Richard J. Adinolfo of Killingworth, John R. Adinolfo Jr. of Ft. Meyers, Fl. and a daughter Jeannie Adinolfo of Westbrook.
In addition he leaves four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, handled the arrangements.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at St. John Church, Old Saybrook with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to the Old Saybrook PBA, 225 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475 or to the Old Saybrook Ambulance Assoc. 316 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
