Eddie Michalek, 5, was killed Tuesday evening when a 7-foot-tall oak tree to which one end of the hammock was tied uprooted, fell and hit the boy on the head in Sherburne County in Minnesota Tuesday evening.

Edward "Eddie" Joseph Michalek, 5 years old, born to his parents Tom and Melissa on February 15, 2012 in Big Lake, MN died on Tuesday October 17, 2017 in a tragic accident while enjoying the beautiful fall weather with his siblings in the family backyard, when a tree fell on him while he was in a hammock. He died in his parents loving arms. Eddie was active, loving, easy going, artistic and full of adventure. He is the 5th of 7 children who are home schooled by their parents.
Eddie was dearly loved by his family: parents Tom and Melissa, siblings Mikayla, Stanley, Sabrina, Jonathan, Molly, and David; Great grandmother Doris Wicks; Great grandfather Edwin Hartung; grandparents Victor and Carol Michalek, Bruce and Pat Maltzen; aunts and uncles Robert and Annaleah Schuster, Rod and Rachel Michalek, and Michael Maltzen; cousins) and friends, and will be missed by many. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
