Frank H. Miller, Sr.

RENOVO - Frank H. Miller, Sr., 88, of Driftwood, Pennsylvania Railroad employe since 1922 and a World War 1 veteran of action against the German Fifth Offensive, died Sunday, April 25, 1925 in the Andrew Kauf Memorial Hospital at Saint Marys.
Mr. Miller was the father of Frank H. Miller, Jr., Renovo, and Mrs. Jerome P. Dale, South Renovo; and the brother of Mrs. Fred Miller of Renovo, and Mrs. Allen Keller, North Bend.
He was a native of Driftwood, where he was born January 1, 1896. When he was a young man he worked for the Hercules Powder at Emporium, then in 1922 joined the Pennsylvania Railroad, working as a fireman out of Renovo for two years until he was transferred to the section gang at Driftwood.
In 1942 he became foreman of the section gang, a position he held at the time of his death.
He enlisted in War I on August 4, 1917 at Emporium and served with Company F 110th Infantry.
During action in France, in July and August of 1918, he was wounded and gassed on August 16. He had attained corporal early in 1918.
Mr. Miller and the former Cecelia McMahon of Driftwood were married February 6, 1923. They had always made their home in Driftwood.
He was a member of the American Legion Emporium: and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways.
He was survived by his wife, three sons: and one daughter, Frank, Renovo; John A., Driftwood; EM2c Joseph K., U. S. Navy in Japan; Mrs. Dale: also 10 grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters; Raymond, Forrest and Harlan, Emporium; Merle, Binghamton, New York; Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Keller and Mrs. Everett Minard, Buffalo, New York.
Services were held at the Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo, with the Reverend Theodore R. Paget, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Castle Garden, officials.
Interment was in Hyner Cemetery.
