October 31, 1945 to October 3, 2017 - Longtime Estacada resident, Bob Mattson, died at his home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
A celebration of his life will be held at Noon on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Springwater Grange. Private inurnment will be at Springwater Cemetery.
Robert Michael Mattson was born October 31, 1945 in Richland, Washington to Paul and Katherine (Morrison)Mattson. He was Native American and part of the Bad River Band Chippewa Tribe. He was raised in Richland, Washington and after high school, he entered into the US Marine Corp on February 25, 1966. Bob was honorably discharged on February 23, 1968. On August 8, 1970, he married Barbara Scheffel in Waldport, Oregon. They lived in Charleston, Oregon for a time before moving to the Estacada/Eagle Creek area in 1976. For most of his working career, He worked for Glacier Northwest. He retired in 2002.
Bob was an avid golfer, he was very artistic and was a great writer and musician. Mostly he enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor and had people laughing all the time.
Survivors include his son Joshua (Rodonna) Mattson; daughter, Kate (Matt) Rinard; sister, Mary Jean (Ray) Foley; brother,
