Senator John Andreason of Boise, passed away Monday evening. He was 88 and had been diagnosed with liver cancer according to family members. His wife Darlene Hopla passed away in 2015.
He was raised in Arco with his sister Cleo and brother Dean and graduated from Arco High School in 1947. He lettered in basketball and football and played the trumpet in the band.
John attended Idaho State College for two years and then married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Hopla. He joined the Air Force when the Korean War started. John served as a Master Sergeant for the U.S. Airforce from 1950 to 1958.
He returned to Arco and worked for G.E. at the INEL and Phillips Petroleum. They raised their 4 children, Tom, Dale, Karen, and Lori here.
John was a member of Lions Club and City Council and served as Senator from Dist. 26.
In 1971 they moved to Boise to work for the Idaho Legislature. He spent the rest of his life working for the state and Federal Government and was highly respected for his service and expert counsel.
His funeral was held in Boise, Idaho at the LDS Stake Center, 11443 McMillan Road, Boise, Idaho.
