A Memorial Service for Darla S. Jones, 77, of Plainview, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Plainview First Assembly. Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.

Darla passed from this life on October 17, 2017 in Plainview.

Darla was born on July 4, 1940 in Plainview to Delmar Wyman and Dorothy Marie (Spann) Duncan. She married Richard Jones and from this union had three children; Kristi, Shana, and Richard.

Mrs. Jones was a hard worker. She worked in the Regional Office for the TDCJ, and she also worked for and retired from Southwestern Public Service. Her birthdate says a lot about her. She gained the nickname firecracker, since she was born on the 4th of July. She was a member of the Baptist Church, and a member of the Elks Lodge. Darla loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Growing up she wanted to be a barrel racer and live on a ranch. She was quite the joker. If you weren’t dishing it out, then she was dishing it out to you. She loved to dance, loved her children, and all her grandbabies. She was loved by so many people.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Kristi Ferris and Luke White of Amarillo, Shana Gonzales and husband Marcus of Plainview, and Richard Scott Jones and wife Myong of Utah, her sisters; Patsy Hoermann of Andrews, Delmarie Davis and husband Bobby of Lubbock, and Debby Ketchersid and husband Jimmy of Lubbock, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and her husband; Lonnie Comer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Marie Duncan, her first husband, Richard Jones, and her brother-in-law, Bubba Hoermann.

The family would like to say a special Thank you to Area Hospice for the loving care that they provided for Darla. They would also like to recognize Nancy Kernell, Oscar Chavez, and Darla’s special nurse Maria.

Memorial donations, in honor of Darla Jones, can be made to Area Hospice of Plainview.
