Audrey Ellen Ford was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017. As promised by her heavenly Father, she now has "no more tears, no more pain, or sorrows."
Ellen was born Feb. 17, 1925 to John Williams and Frankie Adams Williams. She grew up in Dallas where she attended Southern Methodist University and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Ellen accepted Jesus at an early age and her personal faith was central to her actions and attitudes. She was a member of Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas and later a longtime member of Corsicana First Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Chancel Choir and a faithful member of the Prayer Card Ministry, where she forged close friendships with fellow members.
Ellen's other passion was her call to and love for teaching. She was a gifted and dedicated teacher but her greatest gift to her students was her sincere love and belief in them. She touched countless young lives over many years.
After retirement, Ellen volunteered at the Corsicana Children's Home teaching Creative Writing to tough boys who developed tender hearts for her. She also used her gift of writing as a contributing writer for the Corsicana Sun Newspaper.
Ellen's last years were at Brookdale Assisted Living where she was well loved and cared for by the staff. She encouraged them by telling them they were a blessing to her and they were! Ellen was sustained to the end of her life by her positive, grateful, and gracious attitude which came from her personal faith.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 conducted by Dr. Stephen Bell at the Corsicana United Methodist Church.
It would please Ellen for any memorials to be directed to the Prayer Ministry or Missions of Corsicana Methodist Church.
