Funeral services for Joel W. Myers, 85, of Alto will be Friday October 20th, at the Alto Community Fellowship. There is no visitation scheduled. Burial will be at the Old Palestine Cemetery near Alto.

Joel passed away Wednesday, October 18th in Lufkin. He was born September 2nd, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Hill and Emma Jo Mitchell Myers.

He lived in LaPorte for many years and had lived in Alto for the last 20 years. Mr. Myers left school to help on his families farm and later joined the Army. After leaving the Army he worked as a Lineman in Marshall until he opened his first Dairy Queen in Kemah, Texas. He owned and operated several Dairy Queens for many years. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Ronito’s Pizza in Alto with his wife Amy for several years.

Joel was preceded in death by his wife Amy after 35 happy years and his brother, Harold Myers.

Joel is survived by daughters Michelle Myers-Uschak (Adam) and Shirley Koerner (Norm), son Ron Rose (Kay), brother Mitchell Myers (Nan), sisters Sue Cantrell (Earl), Liz Brooks (Charles) and Judy McArthur (Harold), several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
