LINCOLN - Joyce Rae (Sargent) Ellis, 95, of Alton, Maine, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 16, 2017 at Colonial Health Care in Lincoln, Maine. She was born May 28, 1922 in Alton, the daughter of Jay and Fanny (Kirby) Sargent. Joyce graduated from Old Town High School in 1939. She married Raymond J. Ellis, March 14, 1940 and they were lifelong residents of Alton where they had a small dairy farm. She loved flowers, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
Joyce is survived by one sister Gwen Murray, four children, John and wife Joanne, Gary, Peggy Clark and Roberta Hussey and husband Lloyd all of Alton, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Raymond, sister Mary Sargent, brothers William, Frankie, Charlie, Harold, Wally and John and one grandchild Doug.
A graveside services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Alton Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
