Ida Emma went by her middle name, Emma, from childhood. She married Jacob Brunk 5 November 1893 in Williams County, Ohio. She never had biological children but when her sister-in-law, Cynthia Conkey Shearer, died in 1895 leaving two infants, Emma took in her nephew, Ray Lawrence Shearer and raised him as her own. He used the surname Brunk. Emma and Jake had a fruit farm while living in Shelby, Michigan.
