SCOTTSBURG – Carrie Renea Christie, 54, formerly of Mitchell, left us to be with the Lord on October 14, 2017.
Born June 29, 1963, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Gary Grow and Carolyn (Baker) Melton. She married Michael Christie October 9, 1982.
Carrie was a hair stylist and a medical transcriptionist. She attended Turning Point Church, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1981.
Carrie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She loved to cook, organize get-togethers, and loved music. Her smile would light up a room. She was a devoted wife, mother, mamaw, sister, daughter, and friend. She loved her family more than anything.
Carrie is survived by her husband of 35 years, Michael Christie; son, John Christie (fiancée, Aarin Dannheiser); daughter, Cara Sue Christie (Emmett Dalton IV); mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Paul Melton; father and stepmother, Gary and Kathy Grow; grandchildren, Emmett Dalton V and Jessalynn Dalton; brothers, Kevin (Sheryl) Grow, Brian (Misty) Grow, Brad (Amy) Grow, and Nathan (Ashley) Grow; sisters-in-law, Robin (Randy) Snelling and Debbie Christie; and a lot of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lorna and Kenneth Baker, and Floyd and Virginia Grow.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, at Mitchell Cemetery.
