MELROSE NEWS

The people of Melrose and vicinity were shocked and saddened Thursday morning to learn of the sudden death of Charles Carr. He had been in good health and had not complained and his death comes as a shock to his many friends. He is survived by his wife and grandson, Charles Ryan, who made his home with him, and his sons, Frank and Ed Carr, two sisters and two brothers, and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was held at St. Patrick's church Friday morning, Rev. W. J. McCormick saying the Mass. The family have the sympathy of everyone in their hour of trouble.

Those who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Biggs and daughter Marie of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Susie O'Bryan, Mr. and Mrs. John Carr, Mrs. Parker, Sylvia O'Bryan of Lovilia, Steve Ryan, Mrs. H. W. Harrison of Des Moines, Tom McGee, Jim Ryan, Hugh Carney, J. I. Ryan of Ottumwa, Mrs. Joe Falvey, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Falvey of Albia, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Crawford of Oskaloosa, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lyons and Rose McGovern of Chariton.
