Darla Kay Maulsby was born April 20, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clyde and Eunice (Stearns) Maulsby. Darla graduated from Havelock-Plover High School in May 1959. She went on to attend Iowa Central Community College. She then enlisted in the U.S. Army where she served for two years and was active in the band. On June 22, 1963, Darla married Larry Johnson in Plover, Iowa. The couple lived in Fort Dodge and the Lohrville area until 1966, when they moved to Marshalltown. In 1997, the couple moved to Plover. Larry passed away on June 8, 1997 and Darla continued to make her home in Plover and served as a librarian at the Plover Public Library for many years.
Darla was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Plover, United Methodist Women and was also a part of the KSK in Plover. She enjoyed Thomas Kinkade puzzles and loved displaying her ceramic Christmas Village.
Survivors include her children, Eric (Jeanine) Johnson of Pocahontas, Lucinda Johnson of Marshalltown and Dawn (Andy) Williams of Rolfe; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Beth (Alan) Gross of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry and grandson, Darren.
