Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Kiokee Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Hartman, Reverend Ron Hankal and Reverend Lindsey Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Pearson, a lifelong resident of Appling, retired from Sears after 34 years of service. He was a Harlem High School graduate where he met his wife of 54 years. He played on the school's basketball team and the first football team and was voted MVP. Mr. Pearson enjoyed studying his Bible, hunting, fishing, telling stories, making walking sticks, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of Kiokee Baptist Church and Grovetown Masonic Lodge #730 F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene W. Pearson; his children, Jay Pearson (Michelle) and Jana Rowe (Jim); Grandchildren, Haley and Cole Pearson; Jacob, Justin, Emily and Matthew Rowe; his brother John D. Pearson (Laurie); his sister Judy Sanderlin; Sister-in-law Betty Pearson, Brother-in-law Ronnie M. Wheeless (Betty), Sister-in-law Totsy McDaniel and Sister-in-law Ann Wheeless; and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Pearson and Willie Evans Pearson, his siblings, Margaret Morris, Mildred Martinovich, Frances Smith, Helen Dozier, Harry Pearson, Evelyn Pearson, Milton Pearson and Rachel Veneklasen.
Pallbearers will be Trevon McDaniel, Robby Hardaway, Lonnie Morris Jr, Mike Morris, Daniel Morris, Parks Motlow, Bill Jackson and John Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy McDaniel's Adult II Sunday School Class, Circle K Coffee Club, Local Masonic Lodge Members, Pierce Blanchard, Jr., E.G. Meybohm, Deke Tankersley, Jim Eubanks, Charles Pierce, Charles Evans, Dan Marshall, Peyton McGahee, Bucky Summers, Gene Knox and George Gollan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kiokee Baptist Church, PO Box 430, Appling, GA 30802.
