Actor. He was a character actor who was best known for his roles in television and film during a career that mostly spanned four decades (1960s to 1990s). He was active in football and track and field during his high school years and was unsuccessful in his discus event try-out for the 1960 U.S. Olympic team. He later attended the University of Oregon, where he studied architecture. He became interested in acting after joining some friends for a play rehearsal. Later he would spent several years, acting in various productions in San Francisco. He made his acting debut in television in 1967 on the series "Daktari". He would go on to appear on such television shows as "The Virginian", "The Wild Wild West", "Daniel Boone", "Adam-12", "Night Gallery", "Ironside", "Little House on the Prairie", "Starsky and Hutch", "The Bionic Woman", "Fantasy Island", The A-Team", and "The Dukes of Hazzard". He made his film debut in the 1970 film "Beneath the Planet of the Apes". His later film credits included such works as "THX 1138" (1971), "The Legend of Nigger Charley" (1972), "The World's Greatest Athlete" (1973), "Sugar Hill" (1974), "Herbie Rides Again" (1974), "The Blue Iguana" (1988), and "Piranha" (1995). Even though he was semi-retired, he still made appearances in films until his passing. He passed away after a battle with cancer.
