Robert W. Loy
November 27, 1934 - September 24, 2017

Bob Loy passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born in 1934 in South Bend, Indiana. He grew up in South Bend and graduated from the former Central High School. In 1957, he earned a mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University. Bob was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho social fraternity, and also Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi honorary fraternities. In 1966, Bob earned a masters degree from the University of Notre Dame in mechanical engineering.
In 1957, in South Bend, he married the former Nancy Singleton. Together, they had three wonderful children. A son, Thomas Robert Loy, and two daughters, Susan Loy Mills and Julie Loy Brummett. Bob and Nancy also have seven grandchildren, Andrew Mills, Matthew Mills, Meghan Mills Spillers, Kari Mills Kozak, Karen Brummett, Jennifer Brummett, and Caroline Brummett. They also have three great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his siblings, a sister, Barbara Loy Butler, and two brothers, Martin Loy of Coatsville, Indiana and Amon Loy Jr. of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Amon Loy and a sister, Marilyn Loy Clauser.
Bob was employed at the former Bendix Corporation (now Honeywell) for 41 years. Bob conducted a lot of his business in San Diego, California and West Palm Beach, Florida. Starting in 1963, Bob and his family lived in West Palm Beach, Florida for one and a half years. Bob was the Bendix representative at Pratt and Whitney.
Bob also loved sports and always played golf in the summer. He also enjoyed watching various sports on TV. However, he always made time for his family. So many memories.
Bob was a member of the former Harris Prairie Church of Christ (now called North Point Vineyard Church). In earlier years, he served his church in various ways, including several mission trips to Nicaragua.
Bob will be greatly missed by his wife, children, other family members and friends. Also a very sincere thank you to Hospice for all of their concern and care during this difficult time. A private viewing and burial service for Bob's family only will be held and conducted by his grandson, Pastor Jon Kozak. Rest well, Rob…
