Doris Marie (Claypool) Aimers-Voss, 85, of Wauconda died October 14, 2017. She was born in Chicago, daughter of Harold Edward Claypool and Inez Tucker. She was educated in Chicago public schools and later attended Bradley University and National-Louis University. She went on to receive her Master’s and Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Aimers and the late Firmin Voss.

In 1951, Doris married Alfred Aimers, and they had three children, Debra, Michael and Lee. Doris married Firmin Voss in 1996, and became an important part of the Voss family.
Most people consider Doris a Wauconda legend. Doris held an incredibly special place in the hearts of anyone who met her. Her vitality was unmatched. Doris taught in the Wauconda CUSD #118 for 29 years, and even after she retired, she continued to work and support the schools. Doris belonged to and actively contributed to many organizations and her many efforts were focused on making our community a better place (Wauconda Historical Society, Relay for Life, Federated Church, Volo Homemakers, Friends of the Library, Friends of Lake County Museum, Channel 11, and many more).

A dedicated Chicago sports fan, Doris loved watching all our sports teams; however, the Cubs were her primary passion. Doris was a loyal friend to so many and beloved by everyone she met. No matter how packed Doris’ calendar was with friends and groups such as the Dancers and bridge players, she always had time for anyone in her life and made them feel valued. Doris literally made the most of her life and cherished every moment she shared with her loving family and great friends. Doris will always be remembered for her crazy hats, her infectious spirit, and her zest for life. Doris’ legacy will be, through her words and actions, that she was the best person we’ll ever know.

Survived by her children, Debra Lee Aimers (Jim) Loehrke, Michael (Terri) Aimers, and Lee (Nancy) Aimers, and grandchildren, Brian Loehrke, Morgan Aimers (John) Allgeyer, Jeffrey Loehrke, Sandra Loehrke, and Chris Aimers, as well as her stepchildren, Barb (Gary)Smith, Lori (David) Snelson, Brian (Lorna) Voss, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
