Mrs. Laura Jo Griggs, 91, of Corsicana passed away on October 16, 2017 at her residence. She was born on May 3, 1926 in Wortham, Texas to Jessie James Praytor and Cora (Clark) Praytor.
She resided in Corsicana since 1945 and was married to Mr. Clifton “Sam” Griggs on April 13, 1956 until his passing in 1989. They enjoyed spending time at the lake and boating with family and friends. She loved to travel any time she could. She was fiercely independent and always optimistic. She loved animals and would feed any stray that would come to her door. She retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company after 19 years and was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton “Sam” Griggs; her parents, Jessie and Cora Praytor; as well as her caretaker and friend for 27 years, Mr. Larry Wilson. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; several cousins; and 2 brothers-in-laws, Jack and Bill Griggs of Kerens. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caretaker, Dorothy Anderson.
