Roxie was born in Idetown, PA, daughter of the late Mabel Elizabeth (Ide) and Elmer Hoover, being the youngest of three children.
Roxie and David faithfully served the Lord together for more than 60 years at five different churches: Grand Prairie Bible Church, Texas; Emerson Bible Church, New Jersey; Church of the Open Door, York, PA; Palisades Community Bible Church, Revere, PA and First Baptist Church of Doylestown, Doylestown, PA.
Roxie was the loving mother of five children, grandmother of nineteen and great-grandmother of ten.
Roxie’s life was a life of service in all that she did. While serving as a church secretary in Clinton, NJ, she met a young man home on break from Dallas Seminary. After six days, they were engaged and soon after married, beginning their lifetime journey of serving the Lord. Not only did she faithfully serve as a Pastor’s wife, she worked as a nurses aid, school aid, hospice aid all while having five children and being completely involved in all churches. Roxie was a true servant at heart and the first to be at someone’s house to offer comfort, clean, give a back rub or any other support they needed.
Dave once wrote to Roxie on their 40th wedding anniversary, “I have never doubted in all those 40 years that you were God’s choice for me. I know that I got the best end of the deal. I have always said that I couldn’t have had a better wife for a Pastor’s wife or mother to my kids. A Pastor’s wife is not an easy life and I believe God will reward you in a special way when you get to glory.” We are all confident that she is enjoying her well-deserved reward in Heaven!
Family and friends are invited to a brief ceremony to remember her on Thursday, October 19th at 9:30 a.m. where she will be laid to rest next her husband at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
