2017 Oct 23 - Douglas Arlington Carpenter was born Monday 23 Oct 1939 in Detroit to Arlington E & Kathryn M (Treppa) Carpenter. He graduated from Mesick High School and went on to Central Michigan University before starting his career with Sears where he had been employed for many years. He married Barbara L Waldron Friday 08 Mar 1963. He loved hunting with his sons and was an avid sports fan, but most of all he was a loyal and dedicated family man.

Douglas Arlington Carpenter I, of Cadillac, died Friday afternoon 13 Oct 2017 at the age of 77 y 11 m 20 d at his home surrounded by loved ones. Survivors included his wife, Barbara; 3 children: Douglas A & Christa Carpenter II, Candy & Robert Hefron, and Christopher Carpenter; 8 grandchildren, Douglas A & Desiree Carpenter III, Tiffani & Kelly Eling, Cody Hefron, Brady Hefron, Colton Carpenter, Tony Mosher, Chuntel Mosher and Ashlyn Mosher; 6 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Arlene & Michael Simkins, Floyd Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, and David & Diana Carpenter; many nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlington in 1964 & Kathryn in 2007; 1 son, Arthur F Carpenter; and 1 granddaughter, Corina Carpenter.

Visitation was 5-7 pm Tuesday 17 Oct 2017 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services in Cadillac. Funeral services were 11 am Wednesday 18 Oct 2017 at Peterson Funeral & Cremation Services with Pastor Ken Nydam officiating.

Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
