James Allen Coleman CHARLOTTE - Mr. Coleman, age 92, of Charlotte, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at his residence. Born May 25, 1920 in Fulton County, GA, he was the son of the late James Allen Coleman and Lilly Missouri Carter Coleman. Mr. Coleman retired as fleet superintendent of National Linen Service after 39 years of dedicated employment. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Coleman was a member of Northside Baptist Church. The service to celebrate the Life of James Allen Coleman will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in the Hudson Chapel of Northside Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 7:00 PM 9:00 PM Monday at McEwen Funeral Service - Derita Chapel. Survivors include a son, Jerry Lee Coleman of Charlotte; a daughter, Linda Coleman Smethers of Granite Falls; two sisters, Jeanette Cauthen of Columbus, GA, and Earline Smith of Green Valley, AZ; a half-sister, Willie Pharr of Barnesville, GA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Edith Cannon Coleman; and a son, Raymond Allen Coleman. Memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
